Review-Teac MCD800

Just as a side note, the image makes the front panel appear much more blue.

I was searching the web for a record player which would suit the modern world. I only had a Bose Sound Link Mini, which is great in its own respect, but I wanted something that would give me the performance that I was looking for from vinyl. I did not want to spend too much or, get a bad quality product, now the saying "you can't get your cake and eat it", but with this purchase I believe I hit the nail right on the head.

I was researching several sites looking for something which would offer the above, Teak seamed to offer such a product, and more, with a record player, with built in amp, Bluetooth, radio, CD, and even a USB port for attaching a thumb drive.

I found that the best offer in terms of price was a seller on Amazon Marketplace. I ordered my player at 4:30 PM on the Monday, and by 4:40PM I was given a notification informing me of the dispatch, and included a tracking number, which informed me that it will arrive between 11:30AM, and 12:30PM the following day. This was all included in a £3 shipping fee, and it even estimated a delivery date of around 5 days.

When I received this I first noticed how big the box is, and how heavy it is. But that is in my eyes a good thing, because it means that there is more tech inside the box.
Upon opening the box I found that it was packed neatly in  very protective packaging, and everything was easy to assemble without the instructions. Although because there are so many functions available I had to read the instruction manual to learn certain functions, such as setting the time, altering treble, and altering base levels. But it did make for a gripping read, for the 30 mins that it took me!

Now once I had fully understood the functions of the turntable I put my room mate's Plastic Island vinyl upon the turntable, and I instantly fell in love with turn table, music seemed more alive, and real than ever. I was fully immersed in the listening experience.
In terms of build quality this is outstanding, with its veneer finish, and a really rigged build structure, every part of this turn table feels like it has been built to last.
One really nice thing about this turntable is that most of the parts are easily replaceable, and upgradable meaning that you can upgrade to slightly more premier parts, for example you can upgrade the speakers as easily as swapping a spring held wire, and it is the same story for the stylus.

Talking about the audio quality I can assure you that it is superb, and reaches all of the highs, and lows perfectly. Although when you wack up the volume to full the sound starts to distort slightly, which is to be expected, as the amp is not designed primarily for the use with the included speakers. There is not a mounting point on the speakers, but what one person has suggested is making a small shelf, just the size of the speaker, and use double sided tape to stick it down.

The addition of radio and Bluetooth is a godsend, and before you guys snap at me for using these horrible sources of audio it is just so convenient, and easy, for example when waking up I don't want to faff with records, I just want to turn it on and listen. I am really impressed with the supplied aerial, I am living on the ground floor at the bottom of the Surrey hills and I still get perfect reception.

My only complaint is that the mechanism that lowers the needle to the disk does not slow down the needle, meaning that you have to be very careful with the arm, as it is easy to damage a record this way.

If you would like to have a look at the item pleas click below. Please note that the price was £299 when  purchased, and the RRP is £300, so anything under this is a steal.
Thanks for reading and don't forget to give me a like on FaceBook to stay informed.
